FASHION ILLUSTRATIONS & GRAPHIC DESIGN

The purpose of the Ideation Project was to get (a little) behind the scenes of a (fashion) fair. As a group, we chose one non-fashion brand and designed a clothing line to present at the fair. Besides, we had to make a mini version of the stand we can see at such fairs.

The clothing line was supposed to have 5 pieces and we needed to choose one from the whole line to recreate into real, physical form, which means to actually sew it. This was followed by a photoshoot, a video campaign and other necessities.

For this project, I created and recreated all the sketches we needed to include, from my own designs to the final sketches we chose from each group member. The clothing line was a mixture of different garments and pieces, and the style with colors were matching not only together, but with a selected brand as well. For the sketches, I used an iPad application Autodesk Sketchbook. As we wanted to make small flyers, I also suggested to participate by creating the graphic layout.

The whole project was supported with a process book including:

  • a design brief (presentation and explanation of our idea - project goal, creative goals and demands, target groups, distribution/sales channels, specification and regulatory requirements, positioning and the competitors)

  • brand analysis (both written and visual)

  • product (idea development process for the new product line, colors and materials, prototype and final product, calculations and specifications)

  • model of the exhibition stand (idea development process for the stand and its interior, colors and materials, and the photos of the final stand with its interior)

  • sales material (idea development process for sales materials - brochures, packaging, hang tags, business cards)

  • written explanations and reflections on decisions throughout the process

Briefly said, the Ideation project was the final project of the 1st semester when we had to show what we learnt throughout this semester, from the creative work to business analyzes (Design DNA, BMC - Business Model Canvas).
